He was the first black British jazz musician to lead a series of concerts at Wigmore Hall in London and the first to open the prestigious BBC Proms with his All-Star Big Band as headliner. He has built an outstanding reputation as a performer and composer as well as received recognition as a highly knowledgeable and engaging anchorman, music ambassador and advocate of culture. Julian Joseph has composed works for solo piano, small ensembles, big band and symphony orchestras. During his career, he has received major commissions from the BBC, Hackney Music Development Trust, City of London Festival and London Jazz Festival.

Joseph never ceases to inspire with his mastery of the keyboard, versatility of musicality and boundless creative imagination. In the “Night Concert” at Dzintari Concert Hall, the charismatic musicians of the Julian Joseph Trio will perform a selection of the most beautiful standards from the jazz classics, as well as original compositions of Joseph himself.

Julian Joseph is one of the finest, most influential, and highly respected musicians in British jazz today. Devoting his career to championing music across the UK and into the far corners of the world, he has forged a reputation beyond his formidable skills as a performer and composer to become universally recognized as a highly knowledgeable and engaging broadcaster, musical ambassador, and cultural advocate .

Mark Mondesir

Immersed in music before birth but discovered the drums at 12 years old by fluke. Took it seriously at 16. Largely self taught by listening to records and tapes and watching drummers. “For me, drumming involves the spirit, then the head, then the physicality, in that sequence of importance. Spirituality is the most important – you have to enjoy your playing, you have to be sincere about what you’re playing – the audience, the listener picks up on whether an artist is sincere about what they’re playing.”
